The Writers Guild of America has announced its five nominations for the Videogame Writing Award of 2009, comprising the games Uncharted 2, Assassin’s Creed II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Wet and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The winner will be announced on February 20th during the 2010 Writers Guild Awards ceremony, being held simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York.
Last year’s award winner was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and the year previous was… Dead Head Fred. This will be the third year that the Writers Guild will recognise the videogame industry with a dedicated award.
To be considered for a videogame writing award, the writers must be members of the Writers Guild of America, the game must have been released between December 1st 2008 and November 30th 2009, and the game must contain discrete credits for the writers.
This year, the number of submissions over 2008 doubled as the award becomes more popular and recognised as noteworthy amongst game writers.
