According to data and information provided by VGCharts, yesterday’s release of Halo 3: ODST saw an amazing 2 million units of the game finding their way into homes around the world, on the back of pre-orders totalling 1.35 million units.
Of the 2 million units already out in the wild, 1.5 million units were sold in North America, while an additional 500 000 units were sold in Europe and other regions.
950 000 users have already signed up with the game on Bungie’s online leaderboards.
These numbers are slightly down when compared to Halo 3 when that game released in 2007, when pre-orders stood at 1.95 million units, resulting in 3 million units being sold on the first day.
For what many people expected to be a ‘simple’ expansion on the world of Halo 3, ODST easily stands on its own and has exceeded first day sales of previously released Xbox 360 exclusive titles such as Fable II and Gears of War 2.
