Eurogamer’s crack team of technology experts, The Digital Foundry, have compared the game install times of a regular PlayStation 3 against the new, slimmer variant, the PS3 Slim, and it turns out that the time it takes to install a game onto the PS3 Slim’s hard-drive is not-inconsiderably less than that of the regular PS3.
The installation test in question was the formidable Devil May Cry 4, which a regular PS3 will manage to complete in 21 minutes and 23 seconds. The PS3 Slim’s install time of the same game? 18 minutes and 41 seconds.
So it seems as though if you invest in a PS3 Slim over a regular PS3, you can expect your install times to be at least a little less harrowing (if they were ever harrowing to begin with).
You can watch the full, time-lapsed PS3/PS3 Slim installation comparison video over at Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry blog.

ps dmc4 is the longest game to download on the ps3 that is not common!
Yeah, that's probably why they used DMC4 as the 'test subject,' and to see any noticeable differences in install time.
