The number of attendees at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo (PAX 2009) has been announced via word from the team’s Robert Khoo, and that number is impressive.
60 750 people attended the gaming and geek-culture show in Seattle over its three day run, which is only marginally up from last year’s attendance figure of 58 500, but is still mightily impressive nonetheless.
The growth of the show since its inception five years ago has been staggering – during the first PAX in 2004, ‘only’ 3 300 people would have been seen coming and going from the event, with a pre-registration of precisely 1337 people.
This year, pre-registration filled out well before PAX 2009 even began.
Organisers are looking to expand the capacity of the convention centre by hiring out an additional floor for next year’s event in Seattle, while another event, dubbed PAX East Coast, will be held in Boston in March.
Looking forward to it already!
