Kotaku recently posted up yet-to-be-confirmed news that the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (which released in late 2007 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC) will be making its way to Nintendo’s Wii later this year to coincide with the release of Modern Warfare 2 on other platforms.
Call of Duty: World at War developer, Treyarch, have been put in charge of development and porting duties on the title, which will release on November 10th to form part of an all-format (or ‘most-format’) Call of Duty videogame franchise offensive, as Call of Duty branded games Modern Warfare 2 (on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC) and Modern Warfare: Mobilised (on Nintendo DS) make their way to the market.
In the past, Call of Duty games on the Wii have come in the form of World at War and the previous Call of Duty 3, so it’s at least a little strange that number four in the series skipped the Wii. Perhaps Activision were waiting until they could take full advantage of gaps in the development schedules of their teams? Who knows.
An official announcement for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the Wii is expected later today.
