No FF VII remake in the works, but is being considered

Final Fantasy VIIDuring a conversation between consumer games blog VG247 and developers working on Final Fantasy XIII, Yoshi Kitase and Motomu Toriyama, the pair revealed that, while an official remake of the classic RPG Final Fantasy VII isn’t currently in development, they do speak about it from time to time, reminiscing about the project and thinking about how they would go about re-creating the experience on the PS3.

Speaking through a translator, Kitase and Toriyama said:

“There’s no official project that’s up and running for a remake of Final Fantasy VII at this point. Both Toriyama-san and Kitase-san were involved in the development of the game, however, and it holds a special place in their hearts. They do talk about it on a personal level, like, ‘If we did it it would be like this or like that.’

“So, they do talk about it, but there’s no official project yet. But there’s that PSN release that just came out, so if you could play that for the time being, it should be fun.”

Hope springs eternal. Find out about the PlayStation Network version of Final Fantasy VII over here.
