While the DS maintained its stranglehold as the best-selling console in Japan, the big news was the Xbox 360 outselling the PS3 by almost two to one this week.
The DSi sold 87 936 units, up quite considerably from last week’s 70 066, while sales for the DS Lite dropped to 7 921 units this week. This brought the combined sales of the DS to 95 857 units for the week ending the 16th of August.
Sales of the Wii continue to be strong, selling 47 732 units to place it ahead of the PSP again which sold substantially more units this week at 39 882. The Xbox 360 was next with 9 162 units, roughly double last week’s sales, followed by the PS3 with 5 944 units. The PS2 rounded off the chart with 4 097 units.
