Treyarch has no tolerance for World at War hackers

Treyarch, developers of Call of Duty: World at War, have posted a bit of news on the official Call of Duty website talking a little bit about the latest title update (TU) for the game, as well as the developer’s tolerance for console hackers and modders - that is, they have none:

Treyarch Logo“Our most recent TU,” says the post, “addressed a number of issues that arose as a result of modders hacking their console and ultimately disrupting the online experience for everybody else.

“In light of these recent events,” the post continues, “I’d like to make something abundantly clear to the community: Treyarch has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards console hackers / modders.”

The post then goes on to assure players of World at War that Treyarch is doing everything they can in order to ensure a good, safe experience for their “upstanding” players, including working with console partners Microsoft and Sony, as well as releasing patches as necessary.

Anyone found cheating in the game as a result of hacks or mods will be banned, while an attempt will be made to get hackers banned from all online services as well.

“For those of you that are currently modding or are considering modding your console,” says the news post, “this message should serve as a warning; for those of you looking to enjoy a safe and fun online experience, please be reassured by it – console hacking is illegal, and will not be tolerated.

“We are working hard to maintain a pure, fun online experience for upstanding players, and thank you for your ongoing support.”
