Media Create Japanese Software Sales for week ending 28/06: Wii Sports Resorts debuts with 360K

Wii Sports Resort BoxshotNintendo’s Wii Sports Resort has debuted at the top of the Japanese software chart, selling a whopping 360 000 copies for the week ending the 28th of June. Bearing in mind that the highly anticipated sequel to Wii Sports was launched across Japan on the 25th of June makes it more impressive since the title sold this substantial figure in just four days.

After entering the chart at number 1 last week, Tomadachi Collection for the DS drops to number 2 with 72 000 copies. Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland for the PS3 debuts at number 3 with 43 000 copies, the first of three new PS3 entries in the Top 10 this week, and Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono 2 for the PSP is also new at number 4 with 39 000 copies.

The PS3 version of BlazBlue enters the charts at number 5 with 34 000 copies, placing it just ahead of the Xbox 360 version which debuts at number 6 with 25 000 copies. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days for the DS falls four spots to number 7 with 22 000 copies and Agarest Senki Zero for the PS3 is this week’s sixth new entry into the Top 10, new at number 8 with 15 000 copies.

Monster Hunter Portable 2G (Best) for the PSP drops four places to number 9 with 13 000 copies while Sloane and MacHale’s Mysterious Story for the DS suffers a similar fate, falling six spots to number 10 with 13 000 copies.

Top 30 new entries

There are a couple of other interesting new entries in the Top 30 this week. Prototype for the Xbox 360 debuts at number 22, Bionic Commando for the PS3 at number 26 and Wanted: Weapons of Fate for the PS3 is new at number 30.

Titles that fall out of the Top 10 this week include Wii Fit, Ace: Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, Pokemon Platinum (numbers 12, 13 and 14 respectively). Akira Tago’s Mind Exercises (Atama no Taisou) Vol. 1, Fate/Unlimited Codes Portable and Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Empires suffer a similar fate, falling to numbers 16, 12 and 21.
