Kingdom Hearts 358/2 for the DS debuted at number 1 on the Japanese software chart selling 295 000 copies, while Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (known as Gyakuten Kenji) sold 172 000 copies to earn second place in its opening week.

Shin Sangoku Musou 5 for the PS3 is new at number 3 with 76 000 copies. The top three’s sales figures show a marked improvement over the past couple of weeks where both the software and hardware sales were lackluster in Japan.

Sloan and McHale’s Mysterious Story drops from its debut at number 1 last week to fourth with 33 000 copies while Yuusha 30 for the PSP enters the chart at number 5 with 26 000 copies. Higurashi no Nakukoru ni Kizuna: Dai San Kan for the DS is also new at number 6 with 23 000 copies.

Utawareru Mono Portable for the PSP debuts at number 7 with 22 000 copies and H.A.W.X. is this week’s second PS3 new entry, debuting at number 8 with 19 000 copies. Pro Yakyuu Team o Tsukurou! 2 for the DS drops seven places to number 9 with 17 000 copies and Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Empires for the Xbox 360 rounds off the Top 10, new at number 10 with 17 000 copies.

With eight new titles entering the Top 10 this week, some of the evergreens slide down into the Top 20. These include Monster Hunter Portable 2G (Best), Wii Fit, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky and Mario & Luigi RPG 3. Some of the new titles that settled into the Top 10 last week also move down into the Top 30 this week including Made in Ore (Wario Ware), Dragon Ball Kai: Saiyajin Raishuu, Bleach: Heat the Soul 6 and Mass Effect.
