Naughty Dog confirm Uncharted movie adaptation

Nathan DrakeLast week reports surfaced that Naughty Dog’s popular action adventure videogame Uncharted would be heading to the big screen. Since then the publisher has confirmed that Nathan Drake is indeed heading to Hollywood.

Sony Computer Entertainment and Columbia Pictures have signed a deal for a movie adaption of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Rovan and Alex Gartner.

According to Co-President of Naughty Dog Evan Wells, “We have been working with Avi and the folks and Columbia for quite some time and look forward to sharing additional details on the film in the short future. Obviously we designed the game to be a cinematic experience and we too can’t wait to see it on the big screen.”

Wells then asked gamers on SCEA’s PlayStation Blog to suggest who they think should play the witty Drake. While the big names of Hollywood did make an appearance (including Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Matthew McConaughey and Jake Gyllenhall), two names crop up again and again – Nolan North who voices Drake in the videogame and Nathan Fillion from the popular TV series Firefly.
