In what is a more indicative state of sales, Prototype (sales down 20%) has taken the top spot on the UK Software Sales Chart this week, now being allowed a full week at retail to claim No. 1, as opposed to last week when it had only been on sale for two days, leading to it being pipped by The Sims 3.

Sales for Prototype were unevenly split between its platforms, as 61% of sales were recorded on Xbox 360, 36% on PS3 and 3% on PC.

The Sims 3 (sales down 49%) still manages a good position, stepping down to No. 2 from No. 1 last week, and Wii Fit (sales down 12%) continues its climb back to No. 1, moving up to No. 3 this week from No. 4.

This last week’s main debut title, Ghostbusters: The Video Game hits the chart at No. 4 (98% sales on PS3 and 2% on PS2 – remember that the title is only being sold on Sony platforms in Europe), which we’re also reminded is able to place itself one spot higher than previous PS3-exclusive, inFamous, when it debuted on the chart.

Call of Duty: World at War (sales up 59%) is still benefiting from the sales drop for the title, moving it up a further two places to No. 5 from No. 7 last week, Red Faction: Guerrilla (sales down 46%) slides to No. 6 this week from No. 3, while UFC 2009: Undisputed (sales down 28%) moves to No. 7 from No. 5 last week.

At No. 8, and down from No. 6, EA Sports Active (sales down 27%) makes its mark, Virtua Tennis 2009 (sales up 33%) moves back into the Top Ten to No. 9 from No. 11 last week, thanks to the release of the Wii MotionPlus enabled version of the game, and another tennis title, EA’s Grand Slam Tennis (sales up 47%) also pushes its way back into the Top Ten, reaching No. 10 from No. 13 last week.

Other interesting movement on the chart this week includes Fifa 09 moving to No. 12 from No. 10 last week, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (sales up an incredible 158%) bounding up to No. 13 this week from No. 32, Pokemon Platinum being shoved down to No. 16 from No. 8, inFamous dropping to No. 18 from No. 9 last week, Arma II debuting at No. 19, Resident Evil 5 re-entering the chart at No. 20, Terminator Salvation falling down to No. 24 from No. 16 last week, and Fuel crashing to No. 33 from No. 24 last week.
