EA has announced that EA Sports Active has sold over 600 000 units worldwide at retail in less than two weeks. EA’s new virtual fitness product hit shelves across North America on the 19th of May and worldwide on the 22nd of May.

Developed exclusively for the Wii, EA Sports Active offers the benefits of a personal trainer in your own along with customizable workouts.

EA also revealed that a new expansion pack for the game will be available “this holiday season.” The expansion pack is said to take the workout to the next level by adding more challenge and variety, as well as 30 new activities and exercises designed to target upper and lower body and cardio.

The expansion pack will also add something new to the mix – an emphasis on core exercises including curl ups, crunch and punches, and a warm up/cool down feature. Players can look forward to sports activities including step aerobics, an obstacle course, squash and water skiing. The pack will also focus on combinations for upper and lower body exercises.

EA have also thrown a new presentation into the pack – promising to bring players to the tropics and “immerse them in warm weather activities.” The pack will boast a new Six-Week Challenge featuring daily workouts that increase in intensity each week, as well as a new customizable weekly schedule and a weekly check-in with the virtual trainer to track calorie, weight and workout goals.
