At Microsoft’s E3 press conference this year it was announced that Ubisoft’s next Splinter Cell game, Conviction, would be an Xbox 360 exclusive, which lead many people to think ‘timed exclusive,’ as opposed to a full, never-releasing-on-another-platform exclusive.
Posting on Ubisoft’s official forums, however, and speaking during a developer question and answer session, a member of the company has stated that, due to several reasons, there are “no plans to release Splinter Cell: Conviction on other platforms,” a game the developer says is “a true Microsoft exclusive title.”
The developer continued on to provide the reasons for the title’s exclusion from multiplatform exposure: “First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms. The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console’s technical possibilities.
“At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a “link of heart” between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance).
“The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support.”
The post also answers (or tries to answer) two additional questions regarding Conviction’s multiplayer component (details apparently will be revealed later) and whether or not you can play Conviction completely stealthily or not (you can).

Trust me this is NO loss to the PS3......LOL are there still any Fisher fans out there anyway ??
I used to enjoy Splinter Cell on the PC, but Double Agent was a bit of a let down so I can't say I'm crying over this.
Viking, you a ps3 fanboy! This game is going 2 be great. Let it release and when it rocks in reviews, gameplay and graphics, u'll revoke that silly statement. In the meantime, go play with your ragdoll in Little Big Planet
I must be honest, when Conviction was announced to be 360 exclusive, I thought they meant timed-exclusive, and the PS3 would get it later.
It is at least a little disappointing (even from a non-Splinter Cell fan) that it won't be coming out on the PS3, after the intriguing footage that's been released, and the fact that it's already gone through a project reboot at least means there's something special going on.

Final Fantasy was originally on NES
