It’s no secret that many gamers were less than happy with Nintendo’s show and tell at last year’s E3 press conference. If the recent rumours are anything to go by, Nintendo has plans in the pipeline to change that perception with the publisher rumoured to be announcing Wii Fit Plus at their E3 press conference next week.
According to Siliconera.com, a trademark with an English logo for Wii Fit Plus has been unearthed in the Japanese trademark database.
Although Wii Fit is still selling like crazy across the world, not only appearing regularly in the Top 10 sales charts globally but topping them too, it would make sense for Nintendo to release a sequel to the game given the number of exercise games released by other publishers since then. Ubisoft jumped on board with My Fitness Coach, followed by EA Sports Active and recently Black Bean announced NewU Fitness First Personal Trainer, all of which are exclusive to the Wii.
Financial analysts at Macquarie have fueled speculation by stating that they “understand that Wii Fit Plus will be launched at E3, which will be sold separately from the board and in a bundle and will capitalise on the 17m existing WiiFit users.” The group also believes that Nintendo will announce a new Zelda or Mario title for the Wii.
Roll on E3.
