Majesco has announced a new puzzle platformer for the Wii titled Flip’s Twisted World.
Developed by Frozen North Productions, the game is said to “trap players in a world where nothing is as it seems” with players navigating “topsy-turvy environments where up, down, left and right are only a matter of perspective.”
The story follows wizard apprentice Flip as he gets sucked into a crazy cubed universe after messing with a magic artifact. In order to escape Flip must turn the entire world to reveal new paths and possibilities as he journeys through five puzzle worlds. Twist the Wii Remote to rotate the environment 90 degrees in any direction. Consequently walls become floors and obstacles become openings. The game also includes optional side quests where players can unlock secrets and costumes.
The first trailer available at www.FlipsTwistedWorld.com shows interesting gameplay mechanics at work, some obviously inspired by those made famous in the popular Super Mario Galaxy. The soundtrack also sounds great at this stage, featuring original music from well-known videogame composer Tommy Tallarico.
Flip’s Twisted World is scheduled to be released in Europe in January 2010. A playable demo of the game will be available at E3 next week.
“Flip’s Twisted World offers a truly innovative take on the traditional platform game by sidestepping conventional design in favor of a three-dimensional, perspective-altering approach,” said Gui Karyo, Executive Vice President of Operations for Majesco. “With a charismatic main character, fantastic puzzle landscapes and a unique gameplay mechanic, Flip’s gives platform game fans something to look forward to in the New Year.”
