During an investor earnings call last night, Take-Two not only announced the new set of downloadable content (DLC) heading to Grand Theft Auto IV, but also revealed updated release dates and windows for some of their biggest upcoming games, including Bioshock 2, Mafia II and Red Dead Redemption.
First, the bad news – Mafia II and Red Dead Redemption have been delayed until sometime between November 1st and May 31st next year… not exactly the release windows we were hoping for, but hopefully they aren’t delayed any further than that.
The good news, though, is that Bioshock 2, the next entry to the mighty underwater first-person action adventure series, has a new, ‘set-in-stone’ release date attached to it – November 3rd is when gamers in North America can expect to get their mitts on the game, while the rest of the world will get it slightly earlier, with a release date of October 30th.
Currently in development at 2K Marin, while Digital Extremes handles the multiplayer side of things, Bioshock 2 shoves players into a story set ten years after the events of the first game, and allows players to experience what it’s like to play as a Big Daddy, one of the main antagonists in the original.
Not just any Big Daddy, mind you, but the first, prototype Big Daddy, as you plod around the underwater city of Rapture with a giant drill and sets of plasmids, facing off against a new antagonist, The Big Sister, who has apparently been kidnapping girls from the surface to mould in her own image.
2K Marin, the developers of the sequel, have re-setup their Bioshock 2 teaser site, SomethingInTheSea.com, which will apparently be the site of some new, exciting updates and announcements in the future. Already on the site are a few new clues, including voice messages and additional intel regarding the mysterious disappearance of little girls along the coastline.
