Kazuhiko Abe, CFO of Capcom, has revealed that the fifth entry to the Resident Evil series has sold an impressive five million copies since its release in March.
Speaking at the Reuters Global Technology Summit in Tokyo, Abe said that while most of that figure was made up in the month of March (approximately 4.4 million copies), 570 000 units were sold in April:
“We are still enjoying strong demand, very strong demand, that is,” said Abe.
Sales of the title in the current financial year are expected to exceed Capcom’s own forecast of 800 000 units, with a new estimate of one million copies for the year.
It was also revealed that Capcom enjoyed an eleven percent jump in operating profit for the financial year ended March 31st, on the back of strong Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV sales.
