The Nintendo DS franchise set a new US record for April hardware sales for any videogame platform. This is according to the NPD Group, who revealed that 827 000 DSi units were sold in April. Another 215 000 DS Lite units were also sold in April, bringing the total of DS systems sold to 1.04 million. The life-to-date sales of the DS franchise in the US now stands at 30 million.
Nintendo also boasted that the Wii sold over 340 000 units in April, “more than the other current-generation home console systems combined.” The Wii has sold almost 20 million units in the US since the console’s launch in November 2006.
The publisher also performed well on the software side of things, with six Nintendo-published games featuring in the Top 10 of April. In fact the top 4 games of the month were published by Nintendo, with Wii Fit at number 1 selling 470 000 copies, Pokemon Platinum Version at number 2 with 432 000 copies, Mario Kart Wii at number 3 with 209 000 copies and Wii Play at number 4 with 170 000 copies. New Super Mario Bros. finished in seventh with 119 000 copies and Mario Kart DS at number 8 with 112 000 copies.

“Nintendo systems and software represented 56 percent of the industry total shares in April, indicating continued strong consumer preference for quality and value,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce active-play games like Punch-Out!! and Wii Sports Resort into the market.”

They should be available just about anywhere in the US and Europe at this stage. I'm not sure when they will be available in South Africa. They cost $170 in the US and 150GBP in the UK.
