The DSi experienced a boost in sales this week, pushing it to the top of the Japanese hardware chart with 55 283 units. This shift is hardly unexpected given that it was just 425 units behind the PSP last week. This week the PSP has to settle for second place, selling 43 009 units, roughly 6 000 less than last week.
The Wii finally manages to wrestle third place away from the PS3 this week. With sales flailing over the past few months in Japan, this week saw a number of evergreen Wii titles including Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Sports climbing the software chart and boosting hardware sales of the Wii to 24 397 units.
The PS3 drops to fourth place with 18 483 units, down from last week’s 23 588, followed by the DS Lite with 7 821 units. The PS2 trumps the Xbox 360 this week, although outselling the next-gen console only marginally. The PS2 sells 5 137 units while the Xbox 360 musters up 5 068 units.
