The Monster Hunter phenomenon continues to sweep across Japan with Capcom’s Monster Hunter G for the Wii debuting at number 1 with 132 000 copies. It looks promising that the title will inject some life into the Wii hardware sales in Japan, which have slumped over the past few months.
Last week’s number 1, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky, drops to number 2 with 54 000 copies while PS3 exclusive shooter Killzone 2 enters the charts at number 3 with 41 000 copies, the second of five new entries into the Top 10 this week.
Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3: The Collapsing City and the Girl’s Song for the PSP is new at number 4 with 31 000 copies while Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2G (Best) continues to perform well at number 5 with 23 000 copies. Life-to-date sales of the popular Monster Hunter PSP title now stand at an impressive 613 000 copies.
Death Smiles debuts at number 6 with 20 000 copies, the first of two new Xbox 360 titles to make an appearance in the Top 10. Sengoku Basara: Battle Heroes for the PSP slips fives places to number 7 with 17 000 copies while Mario & Luigi RPG3 moves down from last week’s number 3 to number 8 with 17 000 copies.
Nintendo’s Wii Fit quickens its pace, re-entering the Top 10 at number 9 with 11 000 copies and Ubisoft’s Xbox 360 title H.A.W.X. is new at number 10 with 10 000 copies.
The bottom half of last week’s Top 10 drop out of this week’s Top 10. Pro Yakyuu Famitsa DS 2009 moves down five spots to number 12, Mobile Suit Gundam drops to number 15 and Musou Orochi Z loses four places to number 16. Deca Sports 2 drops three places to number 13 while Hitman Reborn drops to number 22 after debuting at number 5 last week. Fantasy Golf Pangya Portable drops 20 places from its debut last week to number 26.
Brush up on last week’s software and hardware numbers and stay tuned for this week’s hardware chart, it’s going to be a cracker!
