Wii surpasses 8 million sold in Japan – Enterbrain
Enterbrain, the publisher of the world-renowned Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, has published data revealing that Nintendo’s Wii has sold over eight million units in Japan since its release on December 2nd 2006, despite signs that the runaway sales success of the console has been slowing down in Nintendo’s home territory for a few weeks now.
Enterbrain also published the top five selling Wii games in Japan, seemingly reserved for Nintendo first-party titles, which reads as follows:
- Wii Sports - 3.5 million units
- Wii Fit - 3.3 million units
- Wii Play - 2.7 million units
- Mario Kart Wii - 2.2 million units
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 1.8 million
The eight million Wii units in Japan contributes nicely to the Wii’s whopping worldwide sales of 50 million units.
