Japan loves the Xbox 360, says survey

According to a survey conducted by publisher, ASCII Media Works, Japanese gamers put the Xbox 360 at the top of their list when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Xbox 360 Party The questionnaire asked both owners and potential buyers of consoles to rate the hardware in six different categories - value for money, variety of interesting software, quality of visuals, external design, size/weight of console, and number of acquaintances who also owned the console.

Overall, the Xbox 360 rated an impressive 78.3 out of 100, despite a drop in score in the size/weight of console and ‘number of acquaintances who also owned the console’ categories. Sony and Nintendo both scored a 70.6 out of 100 for the PS3 and Wii respectively, while Nintendo’s DS got a 72 out of 100 and the PSP got a 73.3 out of 100.

Those scores are extremely interesting, especially if you take into account the Microsoft’s traditional poor performance in Japan with their consoles, and also considering the problems the Xbox 360 console itself has gone through since launch (Red Ring of Death et al).
