It’s been announced that the platformer/user-generated content extravaganza, LittleBigPlanet for the PS3, has managed to reach over two million online players around the world, while 750 000 homemade levels have been uploaded for others to play.

Those 750 000 levels have generated over four million players comments, and no doubt lead to the game being played a whopping 125 million times. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe content and platforms marketing director Mark Hardy said:

“LittleBigPlanet is giving people from every walk of life the opportunity to express themselves creatively. The game is just the start. This is Creative Gaming: never-ending experiences that take on lives of their own through their players.”

In the announcement, a few of the better, more creative and ingenious levels were named, with titles such as ‘LittleBigPlanet Takeshi’s Castle,’ ‘LBP Jurassic Park,’ and ‘LBP-MotorStorm,’ as well as ‘LittleBigCalculator,’ ‘Uncle Fritz’s Funhouse Frenzy,’ ‘Huge Pinball Machine’ and ‘Illumina Garden.’

If you own LittleBigPlanet, you should definitely give those a go.

Additionally, LittleBigPlanet now has an official YouTube Channel devoted specifically to the UK. This page will play host to a range of LittleBigPlanet related videos, as well as promotions and special features.

The launch of the channel also marks the beginning of a competition, called ‘Around the World in 80 Sackboys,’ encouraging players to create levels inspired by countries and famous landmarks around the world.

The winner will receive a round the world trip (for two) with £1000 spending money. Not too shabby at all.
