Konami have announced (or confirmed what many already knew) that SAW, the videogame, is currently in development for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, with a US release window of “this Fall,” or as the producer calls it, October.
Based on the series of horrific, brutally gory movies, SAW is being developed by Zombie Studios, in cooperation with Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures, the creators of the films. The game will put place players in an abandoned insane asylum that has been transformed into a series of gruesome tests of will for unwilling and unwitting participants, created by the series’ antagonist, Jigsaw.
Players will need to navigate through these tests and traps by solving puzzles that may or may not involve gouging out your own eye to find a key located in your skull. Who knows. Producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules at Twisted Pictures enthused:
“Through the years, it has been important to us to consistently find new ways to engage and thrill horror audiences, this game is the next step, transporting fans directly into Jigsaw’s labyrinth.”
