Konami has announced that the Metal Gear Online SCENE expansion for the PS3 will be released across the US and Europe on the 17th of March. You will be able to buy the new expansion for $9.99 or 7.99 Euros from the MGO shop.
US gamers will be able to buy the expansion separately or as part of a bundle with the second expansion MEME for $14.99 or with three expansion packs, GENE, MEME and SCENE, for $17.99.
Gamers will be able to pre-order the SCENE expansion from the 10th of March. Pre-ordering will mean you can use an exclusive ‘Cardboard Box Man’ headgear in the game.
The SCENE expansion adds further stages, options and content elements to the game as well as three new maps. Outer Outlet is an industrial wasteland that features above and below ground areas suited for long range attacks while close kills can be performed in the three storey building known as Hazard House and prepare to battle above and underground as well as underwater in the Ravaged Riverfront Clock Tower.
You will also be able to play as Raiden and Vamp, who both have supernatural jumping abilities. Use Raiden’s High Frequency Blade to attack and block damage or Vamp’s different knives and special ability to respawn at the same spot where he was defeated. Players can also look forward to new gear including a bikini outfit, clown face paint, hockey mask and short cut wig.
The expansion will include a new Solo Capture mode where players are challenged to hold on to a set target for a specific time in a free-for-all match while rival factions attempt to seize it. Head over to the PlayStation Store for a full trailer detailing the expansion’s new additions.
Konami also announced reduced prices for the existing add-ons that users can buy in the MGO shop. The PlayStation Network Wallet system will be supported as an optional payment option from the middle of March, meaning players can purchase new MGO content using their PSN account.
