After a press release was sent out to officially announce the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a strange thing was observed by all who read it.
There was no mention of the ‘Call of Duty’ moniker that has marked Infinity Ward’s titles since the formation of the company. Even Infinity Ward’s CEO, Vince Zampella, failed to mention it when he commented:
“Everyone on the team is laser focused on making the most gripping experience we’ve ever created. No detail is too small and every finishing touch imaginable is underway to make Modern Warfare 2 our best ever. We can’t wait for our fans around the world to play starting November 10th.”
After much confusion rattled around the tubes, GameCenterOnline finally plucked up the courage to ask Activision what’s up with the name drop. The response was as follows:
“Modern Warfare has taken on such a life of its own, it has become our focus now,” with an added, “it’s too early to release additional details.”
Strange indeed. Regardless, you can watch the debut teaser trailer for Call of Du… err, Modern Warfare 2 to start getting buzzed.
