GDC 2009: Zelda: Spirit Tracks announced, debut trailer shown

[UPDATE]The new adventure will make use of the intuitive touch control of Phantom Hourglass and promises to “please longtime Zelda fans while keeping the game accessible to all DS owners.” Players will use a steam locomotive to travel around the world, switching between Phantom and Link to explore the dungeons, all the while using new items to solve puzzles.

During Satoru Iwata’s keynote speech at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), a new DS Zelda game was unveiled by the name of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

Spirit Tracks, graphically, looks very similar to the previous Zelda outing on the DS, Phantom Hourglass, but this time sees Link commanding the direction of a train to progress through the adventure.
