Smash cars roaring on to PSN soon

Smash Cars will be the next release under the partnership between TikGames and Creat Studios. Smash Cars will be available for the PS3 via download on the PlayStation Store in Quarter 2 of 2009.

The follow up to the original Smash Cars, Creat’s 2003 ‘no rules’ radio controlled racing game, the new version will feature real-time physics, innovative stunts and next generation graphics.

The game will include both single and multiplayer modes where players “twist and turn, grind and gear up, performing aerial tricks and stunts while racking up trophies and points as they race to the finish.” Smash Cars will feature “fast-moving, bumper car gameplay style” that promises to transform the tranquil Mediterranean island where it is set into “a dynamically frenzied raceway.”

Described as a “high-speed mini car racing game with a distinct arcade flavor,” Smash Cars sees players interacting with full-size people and beach dwellers who run into the path of the tiny vehicles. Score points by achieving nitro-fueled rocket boosts before pulling off jumps and air tricks, crashing into other cars, hitting dynamic objects, skidding and drifting around sharp turns and of course crossing the finishing line first.

Choose from the Monster Truck style chassis, Buggy or Sports Car configurations or personalize your car in the Workshop by adding glass styles, decals and paint colour. You can also unlock more body styles throughout the game.

Smash Cars will be featured in SCEA’s booth at GDC this week so stay tuned for more information soon.
