A while ago we brought you news that Capcom would be hosting a Resident Evil blood drive to mark the launch of Resident Evil 5, partnering with the American Red Cross to carry out the event.
It seems that the event, held at the World of Wonder gallery in Hollywood, California, was indeed a success as hundreds of Resident Evil fans turned up to donate their precious plasma. Capcom PR spokesperson, Steven Khoo commented on the event:
“Hundreds of gaming fans, volunteers and good Samaritans gathered in Hollywood today to join Capcom and the American Red Cross for a blood drive, ushering in the launch of Resident Evil 5.”
Looking at it optimistically, it’s great that so many fans turned up to help the cause and give blood, with reports that one fan decked out in full Chris Redfield regalia showed up.
It’s probable, though, that the allure of free Resident Evil themed stickers, pins and posters, as well as the chance to win copies of the game or a Resident Evil Red Xbox 360, had something to do with the turnout… although that’s pure pessimism.
