EA announced late yesterday that a sequel to their coolly received co-operative third-person shooter, Army of Two, will be receiving a sequel at the end of the year in the guise of Army of Two: The 40th Day, now in development at EA Montreal, and slated for release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP.
The 40th Day will feature the protagonists from the original Army of Two, namely Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios, as the pair of mercenaries find themselves in Shanghai, China in the midst of “a disaster of epic proportions.” Good thing the disaster isn’t small. From the press release:
“When a disaster of epic proportions strikes Shanghai, China, Rios and Salem find themselves right in the middle of it all – the wrong place, the wrong time, but the right team.
“A carefully orchestrated series of mysterious catastrophes is dragging Shanghai to the brink of ruin, and now the Army of Two must fight their way through ravaged city districts as they try to beat the odds and uncover the secret of the 40th Day.”
Sounds intense. A “bigger, better, more organic and immersive co-op” experience is also promised when Army of Two: The 40th Day hits stores this winter.
