Earlier in the week Capcom revealed the existence of Lost Planet 2, releasing a trailer exclusively through Xbox Live Marketplace.
Today the publisher revealed more information about the game including details about 4 player co-op, new interlinked episodes and deep customization options.
First and foremost, the next installment of Lost Planet is being developed for the Xbox 360 and offers a “deeper insight into the world of E.D.N III and the uncertain fate of future mankind.”
Lost Planet 2 picks up 10 years after the events of the original game. Players can expect a new landscape thanks to terraforming activities which have caused the planet’s ice to start melting and exposing tropical jungles and other new environments.
Players will step into the shoes of their own customised snow pirates, as they begin their journey to seize control of E.D.N III, and move their heroes through different stories.
According to Capcom, the “strongest features from the first game will return in Lost Planet 2,” with players being able to gain tactical advantage with new actions and facing off against a new addition to the Akrids.
The game incorporates a deep single player mode as well as “one of the most extensive multiplayer campaign seen in a shooter to date.” Up to four players can team up online to clear mission objectives in Campaign mode.
Lost Planet 2 is the first Capcom game to make use of the MT Framework 2, Capcom’s advanced software development tool. Capcom believe the game will appeal to both new gamers and fans of the series because the publisher has taken community feedback into account when creating Lost Planet 2.
