Japanese Sales Data: Media Create software sales for 09/02 – 15/02

The two famous Nintendo brothers prove they still have what it takes as they dominate the Japanese software chart for the week ending the 15th of February. Nintendo’s Mario & Luigi RPG 3 for the DS debuts in first place with an impressive 193 000 copies.

Street Fighter IV also enters the charts this week, with the PS3 version at number 2 with 86 000 copies followed by the Xbox 360 version in fifth place with 38 000 copies. This means that Capcom’s anticipated beat ‘em up sold a massive 124 000 copies in its opening week.

Namco Bandai’s Kidou Senshi Gundam: Giren no Yabou is another new entry this week, with the PSP version stealing third place with 40 000 copies and the PS2 version following at number 4 with 38 000 copies.

The remainder of the Top 10 has had a bit of a reshuffle because of the Top 5 being all new releases this week. Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 sticks it out in its third week on the chart, with the PSP version still the most popular at number 6 with 27 000 copies and the PS2 version still selling well in seventh with 25 000 copies (last week’s numbers 3 and 4 respectively).

Sony’s Demon Souls for the PS3 slips to number 8 after debuting in second place last week, this week it sells 22 000 copies. Namco Bandai’s Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 for the PSP loses ground in its third week on the chart, dropping eight places to number 9 with 22 000 copies. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time for the DS moves down five spots to number 10 with 20 000 copies.

The bottom half of last week’s Top 10 all drop out of the Top 10 this week:, Monster Hunter 2nd G (Best) at number 11 while Taiko no Tatsukin Wii, Wii Fit, Rhythm Tengoku Gold and Detective Conan & Kindachi slip to numbers 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively.

Hardware figures follow tomorrow so stay tuned.
