Medal of Honor reboot slated for Fall 2010

Medal of Honor Box ArtAccording to pre-order information on EA’s own official website, their upcoming Medal of Honor reboot announced the other day will be winding its way to stores in the ‘Fall’ of next year.

Other than the fact that you can already pre-order the game, this lends credence to recent statements by EA’s CEO John Riccitiello regarding his company’s position in the videogame market as far as shooters are concerned, and how he intends rising to the top, saying:

“I’m not saying it’s going to happen tomorrow, but in the way that Activision sort of alternates sequels of Modern Warfare and Call of Duty and owns the leadership position in FPS [first-person-shooter], between Medal of Honor and Battlefield, I want it back.

“And we’re going to get there with innovation and quality.”

A Fall release for Medal of Honor would place it right in the firing lines of Activision Blizzard’s next Call of Duty release, which has traditionally released in the Fall (beginning of September to the end of November).

This is a pretty bold move considering the last entry to the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 2, almost literally took the world by storm and sold 4.7 million copies in one day, but this could also point to Riccitiello’s confidence in not only the new Medal of Honor game, but his strategy going forward.

It’ll be an interesting battle, for sure.
