UK Software Sales for week ending 07/11: Wii Fit Plus heads to the top

Wii Fit PlusAccording to Chart Track, this past week has seen an enormous amount of new games, and different stock-keepers units (SKU’s) of the same game, releasing to the UK market, with 41 different games and franchises added to their database which comprise 80 SKU’s - from single format PC games, to Band Hero which is available on nine platforms.

Moving up to the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart this past week, however, is an older title in the form of Nintendo’s Wii Fit Plus (sales up 3%), while SEGA’s Football Manager 2010 (sales down 53%) shifts down from its first appearance at No. 1 last week, to No. 4 this week.

Fifa 10 (sales down 13%) meanwhile makes itself comfortable at No. 2, moving up from No. 3 last week, perhaps attempting to mount an assault on the coveted No. 1 position, and regain its previous stature?

Wii Sports Resort (sales up 63%, thanks to a 57% increase in Wii sales in the UK and the release of the new Black Wii Sports Resort Pack) climbs a long way up to No. 3 from No. 10 last week, while debut title Dragon Age: Origins charts at No. 5 on its first week of sale.

Forza Motorsport 3 steps down to No. 6 from No. 4 last week, while Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is a non-mover at No. 7.

GTA: Episodes From Liberty City stumbles to No. 8 from No. 6 last week, Pro Evolution Soccer (sales down 42%, despite new releases of the PS2 and PSP versions) tumbles down to No. 9 this week from No. 5, and Tekken 6 hangs tough at No. 10, moving down from No. 8 last week.

Other interesting movement on the chart this week includes Mario Kart Wii shooting up to No. 12 from No. 21 last week, Borderlands stepping down to No. 15 this week from No. 9, the debut of Singstar: Take That at No. 16, Uncharted 2 falling down the chart to No. 19 from No. 12 last week, the debut of Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time at No. 22, Ghostbusters: The Videogame debuting (and re-entering the chart) at No. 26, and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising falling a long way to No. 28 this week, from No. 14 last week.
