Still one week away from release and the behemoth of a title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has broken previous pre-order sales records at the videogame retail giant, GameStop, according to executive vice president for merchandising and marketing at the company, Tony Bartel:
“By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time,” said Bartel, speaking to USA Today. “As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we’ve taken for the game is the highest for any title we’ve ever sold in our 6,200 store network.”
Despite the recent upheavals that Modern Warfare 2 has been through, it’s still set to become the biggest videogame launch this year, and in terms of first week sales and revenue, will surely challenge the release records set by Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV, if it doesn’t wipe them clean that is.
As if you needed reminding, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases over the week of November 10th (next week!) across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
