Last week Microsoft launched new social media features for Xbox Live including Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm. Yesterday the publisher confirmed that since then millions of Xbox Live users have used these new features.
At least two million Xbox Live users have logged into Facebook using their consoles in the first week of its availability according to Microsoft spokesman David Dennis. This equates to roughly one tenth of the 20 million total Xbox Live users trying Facebook in the first week alone.
Last.fm has also proved to be popular with half a million accounts being created in the first 24 hours of availability, with 120 million minutes of music having been streamed in the first week. Dennis did not confirm how many Xbox Live users have made use of the Twitter feature other than to say that there have been “tweets from nearly every market where we have Xbox Live.”
In case you were wondering how the new Zune marketplace (formerly known as the Xbox Live Marketplace) is doing, 1.7 million Xbox Live users have visited and watched video there.
