PSP’s Digital Comics Reader now available, free comic on offer

After firmware update 6.20 went live for the PSP last week, compatibility has been added for the Digital Comic Reader for the system, which will allow users to download and read comic books on their PSP, page by page or even frame by frame.

After downloading the reader (follow the steps on how to do that over here), you may not really have anything to read. Fear not, though, as Sony is giving away one free comic for you to try out, with a special code you can find over here.

There are a few conflicting reports as to what comic is available for users to download, with some sites reporting that European users will get the first issue of Aleister Arcane, and US users will get the first issue of Transformers: All Hail Megatron, while the official US PlayStation Blog says you’ll be able to get a free issue of Star Trek: Year Four – The Enterprise Experiment.

The full service only launches on the PlayStation Store in December at the end of the year, at which time you’ll be able to choose from a large selection of digital comics to buy and download.

Until then, however, you’ll be stuck with… whatever is on offer.

I've tried to download the "free" comics but I get errors. I tried it through the PS store via my PSP, errors. I tried it on Media Go, errors. Hopefully they will let me have the "free" comic book soon. The file sizes are a bit high though, I think 25-45mb.
