Before Sony’s latest handheld, the PSPgo, released last week, we found out that not only would the system launch with tons of available content, but that the aforementioned UMD transfer system was currently unworkable, denying current PSP owners the option to play their collection of UMD-based PSP games on the disc drive-less PSPgo.
Sony has, however, found a bit of a workaround for European (and related territory) gamers looking to invest in a PSPgo, offering them the chance to receive three free downloadable games from a selection of seventeen digital titles, through the PSPgo Rewards programme.
All you need to do is connect to the PlayStation Network with your PSPgo and activate a new or existing PlayStation Network account, then connect your current PSP to the PlayStation Network as well, taking care to log in with the same PlayStation Network account details on both consoles, and launch the PlayStation Store.
Then, insert one of your UMDs into the drive of your PSP and register on PSPgo Rewards at the prompt. On the way there, you can always download a PSPgo theme while you wait for the confirmation voucher in your provided email address inbox for your three free games.
After that, you can choose your three games from a list of titles including Killzone: Liberation, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs - Fireteam Bravo 3, WipEout Pure, Everybody’s Golf, echochrome, Buzz!: Brain Bender (or Master Quiz), LocoRoco and Patapon. Then download them. Easy!
The PSPgo Rewards programme began on October 1st (handily coinciding with the launch of the console) and ends on March 31st next year. Owners of the PSP-1000, 2000 or 3000 and at least one UMD may apply with the purchase of a PSPgo.
