The following content contains an extreme spoiler for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so if you want to keep any and all surprises about the game for until the time you’ve popped the play disc into the drive of your favourite gaming platform, and you wish to go on the recommended ‘media blackout’ until the week of November 10th, proceed no further.

If none of that stuff matters to you, head on down below:

Recently, a new (low quality) gameplay video surfaced showing a section of Modern Warfare 2 in which players, playing as an undercover CIA operative, are tasked with shooting down innocent civilians in an airport, which is sure to cause some trouble amongst popular media when the game releases in two weeks time.

According to an Activision spokesperson speaking to VG247, this scene is confirmed to be in the game:

“The scene establishes the depth of evil and the cold bloodedness of a rogue Russian villain and his unit. By establishing that evil, it adds to the urgency of the player’s mission to stop them.”

The spokesperson also mentioned, however, that you’ll be able to skip that scene if you believe you’ll be untowardly disturbed by it, enabled or disabled after a prompt at the beginning of the game asks whether or not you would like to experience the more disturbing elements of Modern Warfare 2, or skip them:

“Players have the option of skipping over the scene,” said the spokesperson. “At the beginning of the game, there are two ‘checkpoints’ where the player is advised that some people may find an upcoming segment disturbing. These checkpoints can’t be disabled.”

Just to make sure everybody is on the same page, the spokesperson went on to point out the scope and scale of Modern Warfare 2, and clear up just who the game is targeted at:

“Modern Warfare 2 is a fantasy action game designed for intense, realistic game play that mirrors real life conflicts, much like epic, action movies. It is appropriately rated 18 for violent scenes, which means it is intended for those who are 18 and older.”

You can watch the leaked video in question below (warning: low quality violence ahead):
