Speaking to Japanese game magazine Famitsu, and appearing in a recent issue, Final Fantasy XIII leads Tetsuya Nomura and Motomu Toriyama have shared a bit of information regarding their upcoming RPG behemoth, including information on load times during the game, how much hard-drive space the game requires, and Trophy support on the PS3.
First up, Toriyama revealed that save data will only take up 500 KB, while Trophy data on the PS3 will require up to 3 080 KB. Seeing as how Trophy support is now required by Sony of all games releasing on the PS3, this was a given.
Additionally, if you’re a bit anxious about having to wait during enormous load times transitioning from one scene to the next, Toriyama also said that the only load times you’ll have to endure is when you transition from town to field (and back again), because once you’re in a specific area, the game is seamless.
This was a major concern for the technical staff, so they worked on load times early in the development process to ensure a smooth experience.
Last but not least, another morsel of information regarding Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3 is that there won’t be an install of any kind, hopefully meaning we’ll be able to pop in the disc and start playing right away (unlike other PS3 games…).
