Why does Japan get all the REALLY cool stuff?? Notice how very little of it actually makes its way to other shores?

It does seem that Japan gets the most awesome gaming stuff. Sometimes we are lucky enough to get the games translated into English (like Phoenix Wright and Elite Beat Agents) but we still miss out on a massive amount of cool games that just don't find their way to the Western world.

One game to keep an eye out for is Rhythm Tengoku which should be released in North America soon.

Likewise with the hardware side of things. I can't wait for the DSi to be released here!

Hmm...I'm going to be a bit pedantic and say that Elite Beat Agents wasn't so much a translation as a completely new game based on the mechanics behind "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!". I played both, and I can fully understand why the entire game had to have a complete makeover—nobody would have understood the jokes and references in the game if they'd kept the original squad and stories. And never mind the fact that I can't seem to find a single other person who enjoys Japanese music :( There's some good stuff there, even if you can't understand the lyrics!

I'm looking forward to Rhythm Tengoku as well, and I keep wondering if I should import when it hits US soil.

DSi? I'm not sure. I've seen the vids and I remain sceptical. I'm not sure that the DS needed a redesign that incorporated so LITTLE. I'll be hanging onto my trusty DS for a while longer, thanks! How else am I going to be able to play Guitar Hero???
