Japanese Sales Data: Media Create software sales for 05/01 – 11/01

Dissidia Final Fantasy Box artDissidia Final Fantasy from Square Enix retains its number 1 spot on the Japanese software chart for the second week of 2009. According to Media Create, the PSP title sold 49 000 copies for the week ending the 11th of January, placing it quite comfortably ahead of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (Best) which sold 34 000 copies to move seven places up the chart and claim second place.

Nintendo-published games took the next three positions with Rhythm Tengoku Gold for the DS dropping one place to number 3 with 33 000 copies. Wii Fit sticks it out at number 4 and Wagamama Fashion: Girl’s Mode climbs two places to number 5, each with 29 000 copies.

Sony’s White Knight Chronicles for the PS3 remains in sixth with 26 000 copies while Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III, another Sony title, is in seventh with 25 000 copies.

Namco Bandai’s Gundam Musou 2 (Limited Edition) for the PS2 follows at number 8 with 25 000 copies and Nintendo’s Kirby Super Star Ultra for the DS drops from last week’s number 3 to ninth with 23 000 copies. The popular Kirby title also crosses the million sales mark with life-to-date sales now standing at 1.02 million copies.

Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii drops two places to number 10 with 21 000 copies, rounding off this week’s Japanese software chart.
