Thank heavens for Julien the really funny lemur and the always-entertaining penguins, or Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa would not have been worth the effort. Fortunately, they manage to entertain with witty dialog that keep you chuckling while you do generic animated-movie-tie-in platforming things.
Sadly, the days when an animated film got a top notch move tie-in game are long gone and don’t look to be returning any time soon. I can’t understand quite what happened – most 80s and 90s kids who played any kind of videogame have fond recollections of games like Aladdin and The Lion King, but it all fell apart for the genre after that. No one will say that those were the greatest games ever, but they certainly were highly competent platforming games with a lot of charm, receiving very positive reviews in their time.
