Megarom, a South African videogame distributor, has today officially announced the pricing structure for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the country, including the official recommended retail price (RRP) for the Prestige Edition of the game.
While a multitude of Modern Warfare 2 stock keepers units (SKUs) will be available on the game’s launch day of November 10th, including the PC version, regular editions on Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as a DS version entitled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Mobilisation, the top of the range version of Modern Warfare 2, the Prestige Edition, comes standard with a functional pair of night vision goggles, amongst other goodies.
While it was previously believed that the RRP for this Prestige Edition would be a whopping R2299.95, Megarom have clarified that this price is in fact incorrect.
Activision publishing announced a little earlier today that the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 5 will allow players to import and customise their Xbox Avatars to use in-game and on-stage.
While the game will still include classic in-game characters (such as Judy Nails, Lars Umlaut and Axel Steel) and guest appearances (such as Shirley Manson), the additional option to use your very own Xbox Avatar is pretty amazing, allowing you to choose your instrument and bandmates and deck your Xbox Avatar out in special clothing and accessories in the Create-A-Rocker mode.
To demonstrate how awesome this could possibly be, watch a video of the crew from Kotaku in Xbox Avatar form, jamming away on-stage during a Guitar Hero 5 set, below:
The decision by a court judge to rule against, or in favour of, delaying the release of Double Fine/EA’s Brütal Legend has itself been delayed due to the particular judge’s busy schedule, as well as to allow attorneys to more fully argue their case.
Through a lawsuit directed at Double Fine, Activision Blizzard claim to still possess contracts that state ownership of the heavy metal-inspired action adventure game, Brütal Legend, and are now looking to delay the release of the game under rival publisher EA, who now officially owns the publishing and distribution rights to the game.
The moody, horror-themed first-person shooter FEAR 2 will be receiving a downloadable expansion pack entitled FEAR 2: Reborn on September 3rd, which features four additional singleplayer missions to expand on the FEAR 2 universe.
You can get a taste of this expansion pack on August 27th when a demo for the downloadable content (DLC) will be released alongside a free multiplayer mode called Slow-Mo Deathmatch, in which players need to hold on to a slow-mo powerup to rack up points.

The mixed martial arts fighting/wrestling game, UFC 2009: Undisputed, has received a patch which is now available to download on Xbox 360 and in European territories for the PS3. A North American PS3 patch is said to be forthcoming.
The patch addresses a few exploits and overdue fixes, so head on down below to read through what the developers and THQ have deemed fit to patch:
Treyarch recently released a Call of Duty: World at War trailer for the Der Riese zombie multiplayer map, which is set to appear in the third map pack for the game.
The trailer features hordes of undead Nazis, zombie dogs and… a cymbal crashing toy monkey laden with dynamite. Interesting.
[Update:]
A release date for the third World at War multiplayer map pack has been announced to be August 6th on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace (next Thursday), and will cost $9.99 and 800 MS Points respectively.

Capcom posted financial results for their first quarter of fiscal year 2010 ended June 30th, and flying in the face of poor financial trends and a slow period in the game industry, the Resident Evil developer is able to boast profit growth and revenue increases, resulting in the best quarterly performance they have posted for this period yet.
A video documentary for Halo 3: ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), the next entry to the Halo game series, has been released detailing the crew, weapons and military technology systems you’ll have access to during the game, as narrated by Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity).
The trailer also contains a lot of in-game footage, so soak it all in below:
The Nintendo DS retained its number 1 spot on the Japanese hardware chart for yet another week. Selling a combined total of 92 747 units, the DS continues to dominate the consoles, selling three times as many as its nearest competitor.
The DSi sold 80 362 units this week, the only console to record a decrease in sales this week (down roughly 16 000 units from last week), while the PSP followed with 30 523 units, up 6470 units.
Dragon Quest IX continues its domination of the Media Create Japanese software chart, selling 270 000 copies in its third week and retaining the number one spot for a third week in a row. Xbox mouthpiece Major Nelson updated his blog with news of an unfortunate (and for some people possibly tragic) incident that has resulted in the loss of all leaderboard data for Halo Wars on Xbox LIVE.
The data loss includes statistics racked up in singleplayer, multiplayer, Trueskill leaderboards and matchmaking data, essentially setting everything back to zero as on the day of the game’s launch. Nelson writes:
Activision has been releasing details of the Guitar Hero 5 setlist over the past couple of weeks but up until now the full setlist remained under wraps. Now the publisher has revealed the final 15 tracks for the upcoming rhythm game, featuring popular tracks like ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ from Nirvana and ‘Under Pressure’ from Queen and David Bowie. Arctic Monkeys and Dire Straits are also among the new tracks, making their music videogame debut.
We now have the full 85 song tracklist at our fingertips, all set for the launch of Guitar Hero 5 on the 1st of September for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii. The 15 new tracks and the previously announced tracks follow below.
Check out our previous coverage for more information about the game and a closer look at the new guitar and drum set.
Legendary graphics programmer and game developer at id Software, John Carmack, has recently stirred the fanboy nest with a statement that is nothing less than controversial: id Software’s next game, the first-person action racing game RAGE, runs faster on the Xbox 360, and “lags a little bit” on the PS3.
These statements appear in the latest issue of Edge magazine, where the team there had an opportunity to interview Carmack about all things id Sofware, which included the revelation that, while RAGE runs at 60 frames a second (fps) on both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game, the PS3 currently only runs at between 20 and 30fps. Here’s Carmack:
Developer doublesix has announced that Burn Zombie Burn, its first PlayStation Network title, has sold 70 000 units.
The developer believes that the game continues to sell well after the initial release because digitally distributed titles have a longer life cycle and are confident that it will reach a “significantly higher” lifetime figure.
