Ubisoft’s sales for the fourth fiscal quarter ending the 31st of March 2009 totaled €206 million, down from last year’s €217 million for the same period. Full year sales were up 14% to €1.05 billion.

The fourth quarter sales were in line with the earlier guidance issued during quarter 3. The publisher attributed this to a strong performance of Wii titles including Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip and My Fitness Coach. Of course it didn’t hurt that sales of Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. reached the target of one million sell-in units or that The Petz and Imagine franchises sold-in over one million units each during the quarter.

Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer, stated: “In a highly competitive environment Ubisoft reported full-year sales growth of 18% at constant exchange rates in 2008-09 as well as the second best profitability among comparable companies in its industry.”

Everybody’s favourite action game featuring a sidekick dog (well, one of our favourites), Dead to Rights, is set to get a sequel in the form of Dead to Rights: Retribution. This much you know.

What you may not know, or may not have yet seen, is the video below where two of the developers on the game speak about the core features, as well as how they’re trying to recreate the franchise for both long-time fans, as well as a new audience of action-seeking gamers.

There’s a good amount of (what looks to be early) in-game footage from Dead to Rights Retribution included in the video, below:

Red Steel 2 Artwork The ambitious, but in the end, lacklustre Wii-exclusive first-person shooter/sword swinger, Red Steel, is set to get receive a follow-up from developers Ubisoft at the end of the year, just in time for your Holiday shopping.

Imaginatively called Red Steel 2, the (again Wii-exclusive) sequel takes players to a high-tech metropolis in the desert (kind of like Las Vegas?) and takes full advantage of the upcoming WiiMote add-on, the Wii MotionPlus, to faithfully replicate, on-screen, every move you make with your hands while holding the WiiMote – no more disconnected-looking sword swinging this time!

EMEA marketing director at Ubisoft, John Parkes said of the title:

“Red Steel was a unique opportunity for Ubisoft to work in tandem with Nintendo to create a title exclusively for the launch of the Wii console. Red Steel 2 is another milestone for the company as it is the first Ubisoft title with full Wii MotionPlus integration.”

Look forward to the new (and improved) ‘action-fighting’ game, Red Steel 2, this Holiday season.

As the release date draws nearer for The Conduit, a graphically rich first-person shooter on the Wii, the anticipation for the title is also growing, as the developers try to stoke the flames of excitement with this new story trailer, revealing the back-story of the game and what the player will be up against - orchestral choir music naturally included.

While these screenshots for Tekken 6 on the PSP (understandably) don’t look as ridiculously good as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, they’re still looking pretty smart, considering the comparative hardware being used.

So what’s this ‘MAG’ all about, then? While the code-name ‘Massive Action Game’ may give something away, no-one really knows any concrete details surrounding the PS3-exclusive action strategy shooter.

Well, now with some brand new, in-game footage from the game, as well as an interview with the developers, we can get a bit of a better idea of just what MAG is all about. It certainly is looking ‘massive,’ with large-scale war being carried out amongst dozens of soldiers, while tanks, jeeps and planes make their way across the battlefield.

You can watch the premiere gameplay footage for MAG below:

You can find the interview with the developers, Zipper Interactive, below, as they discuss the difficulties they’ve encountered while developing MAG, as well as their goals for the game:

Guitar Hero: World Tour for the mobile? Say it ain’t so…

Well, it must be so if there’s a debut trailer for the title, with real in-game footage and everything. It might be good for music fans who want a quick game on the go, but wouldn’t you rather go for Guitar Hero on the DS, or Rock Band on the PSP (system availability permitting)?

Bethesda have recently announced that the latest title update for their enormous singleplayer wasteland RPG, Fallout 3, has gone live on Xbox 360 and PC.

Primarily acting as a support patch for their upcoming Broken Steel downloadable content (which we are reminded will be released on May 5th), Bethesda did manage to squash some bugs in the process:

In what turned out to be a pleasant piece of news yesterday, when it was announced that Tekken 6 would be releasing on the PSP, it’s now been revealed that a version of Tekken’s younger sibling, Soul Calibur, will be making an appearance on the PSP as well.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny Screenshot 1

Entitled Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, the game is based on the Soul Calibur IV technology, while it is also promised to be an almost direct port of that game, only to the diminutive handheld with the expected drop in visual quality but, if reports are to be believed, Broken Destiny is still looking amazing.

All of the features from Soul Calibur IV will be present (including the character creation mode), while the PSP necessities (multiplayer via Ad-Hoc, for example) will be included. The character list is set at ‘more than twenty,’ though, and that doesn’t include Darth Vader or Yoda, unfortunately.

In what seems to be the on-going trend over the last few days, inFamous developers Sucker Punch have released a ton of new video footage from their open-world, free-roaming game of superpower discovery, revealing some excellent gameplay scenarios, as well as showing off how your increasingly powerful superpowers will allow you to circumvent obstacles you encounter throughout the adventure.

First up is a vertigo-inducing in-game video taking place high atop a tower:

Killzone 2 Banner Image

If you have a look at the Killzone.com leaderboards, an interesting statistic will be revealed – Killzone 2 has reached the ‘one million players online’ milestone, which any self-respecting online game needs to achieve to remain self-respecting.

While those numbers are impressive, who knows what will happen after the promised downloadable content (DLC) for Killzone 2, entitled Steel and Titanium, releases later today. Will those numbers take a sharp spike, or will it continue largely unaffected?

While you wait for the DLC to hit, why don’t you have a look at a bunch of videos from the multiplayer add-on over here.

Eidos and Crystal Dynamics have been quite generous in how they’ve continued to support Tomb Raider: Underworld through DLC. Just a few months since its release, we’ve already been gifted with two sets of additional costumes for our heroine, as well as Beneath the Ashes, a new Tomb Raider episode released as a downloadable expansion to Underworld. Hot on the heels of that first episode comes Lara’s Shadow, the second expansion. Like its predecessor, it’s exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of the game, available as a download from Xbox Live Marketplace. Unlike Beneath the Ashes, however, Lara’s Shadow refuses to play it safe.

It’s looking more and more as though Tekken 6 is going to be an excellent return to form for the legendary fighting series, so much so that, despite a flagging career, people are really starting to get behind this new entry and show some enthusiasm, especially considering how amazing-looking the game is shaping up to be.

Below, you’ll be able to find a new trailer for Tekken 6, as well as a gameplay battle montage (featuring Jin VS Kazuya, Nina VS Anna, Bob VS Bryan, and more), and then an interview with the game’s producer, Katsuhiro Harada, talking about how the team have achieved the smooth animations and motions in Tekken 6.

First up, the new trailer:
