The Nintendo DS continued its reign as best-selling console in Japan for the week ending the 31st of August. The latest Media Create figures show that it sold 56 439 units, selling roughly 400 more units than last week.
The PSP followed with 41 664 units, dropping marginally from last week’s 47 604, but still well behind the DS with almost 15 000 units separating the two handheld competitors.
The Wii continues to sell consistently and with 35 755 units it lands in third place, still well ahead of the current generation race. The PS3 sold 9 775 units and the PS2 8 810, sales of both Sony consoles are up slightly from last week. The Xbox 360 continues to trail with 3 124 units, dropping marginally from last week’s sales, presumably due to lack of stock.
With two PS3 titles debuting in the Top 10, make sure you don’t miss this week’s software chart.
