UK Charts: Chart Track software sales for the week ending 27/9

With LucasArts’ announcement last week that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, was performing even better than they had hoped, selling 1.5 million copies in a matter of days, it’s no surprise that the game has managed to hold on to the top spot in the UK Charts from last week, this despite a 38% drop in sales.

Another unsurprising movement, or lack thereof, is that Nintendo’s Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii managed to cling to their positions from last week, at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. Wii Fit, in particular, had a great week with a 75% rise in sales, while Mario Kart sales were up 26%. The only other non-mover was Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’09, which stood firm at No. 5.

A new release, Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, made its debut entry at No. 4, with the sales split going the way of Xbox 360 - 65% of sales on Xbox 360 and 35% on PS3. Another new title, the off-road racing title, Pure, managed a solid debut at No. 8. Wii Play and Carnival: Funfair Games have made the Top Ten their home recently, and were even able to claw themselves up a place each - Wii Play is up to No. 6 from No. 7 and Carnival: Funfair Games is up to No. 7 from No. 8.

The last two titles rounding off the top ten were fortunate enough to rise back into the charts, as Big Beach Sports floated up to No. 9 from No. 11, while Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock hovered up to No. 10 from No. 12. Titles that have had significant downwards movement, however, include Mercenaries 2 (dropping to No.11 from No. 6 last week) and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (dropping from No. 4 to No. 13 this week).
