Insomniac Games has announced that the “worldwide competitive online multiplayer and co-operative beta” for Resistance 2 will begin in early October.
Insomniac also revealed that Resistance fans can secure premier access to the public beta in North America by pre-ordering the game from GameStop. Qore annual subscribers will also receive premier access to the beta.
Head over to http://beta.myresistance.net/apply to apply for the open access period of the public beta. If you have purchased Qore Episode 3 you will also be given the beta during the open access period.
According to Insomniac Community Relations Manager James Stevenson, “plans for the public beta will be communicated on a more local level” for the SCEE territories, however, “will generally involve pre-order and/or application programs.”
Resistance 2 is the PS3 sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man. The game features a single player campaign, classed based online co-op campaign for up to eight players as well as 60 player online competitive multiplayer battles. The game is set shortly after the first game ends and sees Sergeant Nathan Hale again battling the Chimera invasion which has spread outside Europe to the United States.
Resistance 2 will be released on the 4th of November across North America but Europeans have yet to be given an exact date although the game will arrive on shelves in November.
The standard version of the game will cost $59.99 while the Collector’s Edition will retail at $79.99.
