LucasArts’ Star Wars: The Force Unleashed debuts at number 1 on the UK’s All Formats Chart, claiming the biggest launch week ever for a Star Wars game and the biggest all-formats launch since GTA IV according to Chart Track.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was released across all major formats (PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and NDS) and notches up first place on every chart except the Wii and DS where it reaches numbers 3 and 39 respectively.

The Xbox 360 version accounts for 48% of sales while the PS3 racks up 30%, and according to Chart Track these sales figures make it the 10th fastest selling title ever for each format. The Wii version accounted for 15% of sales with the remainder selling on PS2, PSP and NDS.

Nintendo’s Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii both climb three places to numbers 2 and 3 respectively thanks to renewed stock of both titles. These are the only All Formats Top 10 titles to increase in sales this week.

EA’s Mercenaries 2 drops from last week’s number 1 to number 6, with sales tumbling by 65%. However, EA is the only other company to boast new releases in the Top 40 this week with two new PC games, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and Crysis Warhead at numbers 4 and 21.

While losing their top three domination of last week, EA still feature strongly in the Top 10 with four titles. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 drops three places to number 5 and Spore moves down seven places to number 10.

Nintendo’s Wii Play climbs three spots to number 7 while Take 2’s Carnival: Funfair Games drops one place to number 8 and Midway’s TNA Impact! sticks it out at number 9.

Activision-Blizzard’s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock moves up from number 27 to number 12, thanks to retailer promotion on the Wii version, while Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS drops from number 8 to number 23. Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games drops from last week’s number 4 to 13. EA’s Rock Band moves up from number 30 to number 19.
